Covid-19 Special
2020 has taken a different shape from what we expected at the beginning of the year.
Not only our lives have changed but also research had to be re-focused around current events, reason why we are bringing you some of the science, research and arts behind the fight against Covid-19.
Just choose a bubble to discover some of the research at the University of Southampton or to join a live session.
And don’t forget to share your thoughts or send your questions to our researchers through the SOTSEF Diary.

The Social Universe Podcast LIVE Recording

The Social Universe is a podcast about the social research by PhD students. We will be doing a live recording of our podcast with an episode about the social sciences! We will discuss what kind of work we do, including how it helps us to understand the world and what it contributes to other scientific research. We would love to record short conversations with you to understand what you think social scientists do and what kind of questions we can answer with our research.

We want YOU to take part in a podcast about life under lockdown! You can have a go at an 'autoethnography', a type of research where you examine what your life tells us about the world we live in. Since the coronavirus outbreak we've all had to make changes to how we live, work, play and socialise. We want you to think about what your lockdown life tells us about UK society. We will feature clips of the autoethnographies in a special podcast episode.
All you need to do is record a short clip of yourself (or family or friends, with their permission) on your phone or computer talking about any aspect of coronavirus life. We have put some topics below to help you get started and there's more information in the podcast linked below! Email your recording to social.universe@outlook.com, we'll pick the best ones to go in our podcast. The podcast will then be published for everyone to listen to - maybe even people in the future wanting to understand more about the pandemic!
Topics to think about:
- Who you live with
- Where you live
- Work and school
- Technology
- Food and cooking
- How your experiences differ from other people's
